What you need to know about Card Grading
My latest video breaking down the card grading industry and when to get your cards graded
Last week I published my latest YouTube video on everything you need to know about the card grading industry.
A lot of you who have been following my channel are learning more about the vintage sports card market. I get asked on a weekly basis about whether or not someone should get their cards graded. My answer is always the same.
It depends.
It depends on the value of the card mostly, and that is dictated by the condition of the card.
Almost 100% of the time, any vintage baseball card made after 1980 should NOT be graded. The cost of shipping, insurance, and the grading service will 9 times out of 10 outweigh the value of the card from that era. The exception to this rule is if it is a rare error card like the Frank Thomas “No Name” or the Billy Ripken “F-Face” card. Keep in mind, this is also strictly baseball we’re talking about here. There are certainly some high $ value basketball cards that have been printed in the 80’s and 90’s that absolutely should be looked at and graded.
In my latest video, I break down the major card grading companies, and what the card graders are looking for when grading vintage sports cards.
